I am so humbled at receiving this award, thank you so much Dogdaz for honoring us! I am always in awe at the friendships that come about from blogging. For the most part we have never met but through this awesome thing they call cyber space we can all share our lives with each other. I have enjoyed each and every blog I read and do consider you all friends.

Now I would like to nominate…drum roll please……………………Tylersat99’s Blog

This is a great newfie blog starring Mica and Lexie, they go on great adventures with their mom and dad, and also have a awesome swimming hole! Pay them a visit and see why I enjoy them so much Smile

Last week on my Park Day ~ Island Lake Recreation Area

2browndawgs asked…

“Do they have a designated dog training area to train off lead?

and Jodi from Heart Like a Dog asked…

“Do they allow dogs in the cabins?

Well I stopped by the Island Lake park office yesterday morning to see if I could find out if there are any areas to get the dogs off leash…that would be a big NO. They must be on a six foot leash. I then asked if there was any place I could get them in the water to swim, she said “yes there are actually a couple of places” then showed me on the map but then she proceeds to say “but they still have to be on a six foot leash” right about then I bet you can guess what I was thinking but I bit my tongue and just looked at her and said “well that defeats the purpose of swimming” But she did offer a suggestion that I might be able to apply for a special permit and gave me the paper work to fill out if I wanted to try that route. And in answer to Jodi’s question that is also a big negative.

Wordless Wednesday ~ My New Look!

Ever do a title only to look at it later and say “epic fail” well that is how this title was for me. After it was already posted and comments started rolling in I thought to myself it could have been better, something like “Do you think my ears make my head look big” ahhh oh well Disappointed smile

This ‘N That Thursday ~

Kat n collies asked…

“I thought Titan lived with you?”

Titan does live with me but he is in retriever training at my friends DustyRose k-9Trainers. Sorry for the confusion, I forget to explain things thoroughly sometimes.

Now for another photo I have been playing with editing, this is the original

Dusty

and the edited version

Dusty (2)

This is Dusty, one of my Aunts little doggies. I used Pixlr advanced and efficient for this one.

So that wraps up Follow-up Friday for us, why don’t you grab the badge and hop along with our host Jodi at Heart Like A Dog and myself!

  1. What a great follow-up! Thank you so much for co-hosting with me, it’s always a pleasure to have you join me.

Thanks for stopping by the park to answer those questions. You handled her very nicely. I probably would have asked, “Have you ever tried swimming on a six foot leash?” 😉 I’m looking for a lovely spot to vacation with the dogs where they’ll have access to swimming and hiking and be allowed inside the dwelling with me. 😉

Congratulations on your award, I think awards by fellow bloggers are something to be treasured (bad blogger here, I think I have a couple I need to pick up and acknowledge.) ;-(

Love the photo of your aunt’s dog you did a beautiful job with it!

Thanks again for co-hosting Misty, have a great weekend!

    1. LOL, well this one was a little of this and that and two different editors and I hope I can repeat it when the time comes 😉 The background was cloned and smudged and then I used a frame. I know this is probably of no help to you :/

  2. Aaargh! There’s a designated dog beach over here with the same restrictions…I’ve questioned “how can a dog swim on a 6′ leash” with never a satisfactory answer…we don’t visit that one any more…Love what you did with that photo…very unique TGIF!

  3. Great wrap up to the week! I too would like to know how they are expecting a dog to swim on a 6′ leash…that does kind of defeat the purpose of letting them go swimming. And to have to apply for a special permit? That’s just silly. Love the edited picture of the little guy! Before was cute too, but the edit looks very well done 🙂 Congratulations on the award!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you so much for the lovely compliment, sorry I am so behind in acknowledging all the wonderful comments.

I was quite disappointed in the answers I received, especially when it used to be such a dog friendly place to go.

  4. Excellent FUF. I am not surprised by the answers at the state park. I know many people who have gotten tickets for having dogs off lead. That is why we do not train in any of the parks. Are you going to look into the permit thing or is it a one time permit like we got to run the WD at Lapeer? It irritates me that they make it so hard to train dogs in Michigan.

  5. Hi Y’all!

It’s hard to find anyplace off leash for us pawed ones to train…and y’all know why??? Cause people with untrained, unresponsive dogs barge in on our territory and cause a lot more than mischief…then too, there are a lot of people who just plain don’t like us dogs and would never let us out of our house or a fenced yard. It isn’t just Michigan that keeps dogs out of places or, if allowed, on a leash!

    1. You are absolutely right Hawk. I even told her my dogs were well behaved and would have training collars on and she said make sure to put that on the application and maybe they would approve it. However I have decided it wouldn’t be worth my time since I would only use this particular park on occasion since it is quite a drive for me.

  7. First thank you so much for the award. I am always so amazed with awards since I only started blogging to introduce people with Newfs. We also like to share the beautiful spots in nature we are lucky enough to be able to go and swim.
Second we are also thrilled that we can swim off leash since six foot is just too short for swimming and playing. Coming from such beautiful Chessies we are honored:-)

  8. Wonderful FUF. I like your look and absolutely agree with the epic fail problem. It looks great and then you put it up and look at it (sometimes through different browsers) and you realize it is not right at all. For years I used Comic font on the site, only to see it on my daughter’s iphone one day and it was totally unreadable. I really like your remake of the little dog. Looks like photo fun. Have a great weekend. And don’t make them swim on a 6 foot leash, that would be silly.
