This ‘N That Thursday

Today we are joining 2BrownDawgs for their This ‘N That Thursday blog hop!

She says…

It’s a little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

I really need a way to slow time down, or stop it all together for a week or two so I can catch my breath and get caught up on everything I am behind on Thinking smile

Well I missed the maiden flight of the little robins, these are the last photos I was able to shoot. I saw them Saturday morning and could tell it would probably be the next day they would fly but I didn’t get home in time and sure enough the nest was empty; I am happy they all made it though.

Robins June 8. 2013 (2)

I shot this with my phone so the quality is pretty poor, but you can still see how big they are. There is a fourth one in there somewhere and it amazed me how they all fit in that little nest.

Last week while at training we were fortunate enough to see a little group of baby wood ducks swimming around in the pond. They were very small and kept to one end of the pond so were able to still run dogs on water retrieves.

These shots are from the end of the pond we were working in, so then I walked down to see if I could get a closer look…

We never saw an adult with the babies but if you don’t know what a full grown wood duck looks like you can see one here These are my favorite duck!

Loving this weather we have had today here in Michigan, hoping it lasts through the weekend so we can get a good training day in on Saturday. We will be doing retriever training and I hope we will get to do a little conformation training, which had  been put on hold due to an injury…let me back up a bit on that. Last week Hailee was walking Riva around the block and they passed a house with a dog in a fenced in yard, a 2-1/2 – 3 foot fence, on their second trip around the dog leaped the fence and went after them. I think the dog was probably going more for Riva but I wasn’t with them so I can’t say for sure. Anyway it scared Hailee and she started to run, she tripped and fell letting go of Riva’s leash and Riva kept going until she realized Hailee didn’t have a hold on her leash anymore and my sweet girl came back and sat next to her until she could pull herself together and get up. She injured both her knees pretty bad and sprained her wrist. Now the part of this scenario that really bothers me is that after the owners came and retrieved their dog they never came back out to see if she was okay or offer any kind of assistance to her…what kind of people do this? I would have been so apologetic if my dog did something like that and I certainly wouldn’t just walk away and leave the person laying on the side walk. I just hope they take care in correcting the problem and keep their dog better contained.

Well that wraps up Thursday, why don’t you grab the badge and join the fun!

“Who’s kitty?”

This is my kitty BW…you guessed it, that stands for black and white Winking smile He was a stray who took up residence on our porch shortly after we moved in nine years ago and soon moved in to the house as a permanent resident Smile He is the best cat, just as sweet as he can be, and a great mouser!

“Life is busy, huh? Every year I look forward to summer, thinking life will slow down. It never does.”

Boy isn’t that the truth! The harder I try the farther behind I seem to get. So glad I am not the only one.

“hope your training didn’t get rained out.”

We were lucky and had good weather while training but shortly after we were done the skies turned dark and it poured! We worked on water marks today, and the dogs loved getting wet on such a hot day.

This ‘N That Thursday

Today we are joining our friends over at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday’s blog hop!

This is what she has to say about the hop,

“A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

What a busy week…again!

I am slowly catching up on reading everyone’s blogs and responding to mine, so please bear with me Smile

The show went very well last weekend. I have been working with Maia to get her past her show jitters for a little while now and it has paid off…she was awesome this past weekend. She was very calm and relaxed, she was even going up to people. I have been slowly introducing her to hard stacking and usually when I pick up her back foot to place it she holds it in the air and won’t put it down, but this time we were very successful with foot placement. She stood awesome for exam and seemed happy with some tail wags and ears up. Saturday we didn’t get a placement, disappointing but there are a lot of very nice Chessie’s here in Michigan so competition is tough. Sunday was a MUCH better day, she received Reserve Winners, (Reserve Winners The award given to the second place dog or bitch in the Winners class), this is the first time she has gotten this placement. I will try to post some photos tomorrow.

So this weekend we are going to the Kalamazoo KC show held on Sunday. Since I was only showing the one day I had intended on driving out that day and then home after we showed, however ring time is 8am which means I would have to be up and out the door by 5am. The more I thought about this the less appealing it sounded, so at the last minute I booked a cheap motel room. I figured I would use it as some Maia and Me time Winking smile Shhhh don’t tell Cheyenne and Riva, they aren’t going to be happy to find out they are staying home.

Well that’s it for now, so why don’t you hop in over to 2 Brown Dawgs grab the badge and join us for the hop.

This “N That Thursday

Today we are joining our friends over at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday’s blog hop!

This is what she has to say about the hop,

“A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

Shew, I thought I was going to miss This ‘N That Thursday. I am so far behind this week with all my blogging and a whole bunch of other things but I won’t bore you will all that Winking smile

Training

I was able to get out to finally see my boy and he is doing great. Dave has him working on his “sit to the pile”, this I where a pile of bumpers are placed out a several yards and the idea is for the dog to be sent and on his way to the pile the trainer blows the whistle for the dog to stop, sit and look at him for further instructions. This is all part of the training leading up to T work, (more on that in another post); Titan did very well with this, I was so proud of him. Below are photos in sequence on how this looks in action…

This blog has received another wonderful award, thank you so much Sand Spring Chesapeakes for presenting us with the WordPress Family Award. What an honor to receive recognition from fellow bloggers! wordpress-family-award

The WordPress Family Award was started by Shaun @http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com.

Here is a description of the award and the rules from Shaun:

Award Description:

“This is an award for everyone who is part of the ‘WordPress Family.’ I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents ‘Family’ we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honour to start this award.”

Rules:

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 10 others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.
  4. Let your 10 family members know you have awarded them.
  5. That is it. Just please pick 10 people who have taken you as a friend, and spread the love.

You will have to come back tomorrow to find out who my 10 will be. Since I am so far behind in getting back to your lovely comments you have left for me all week I will be answering those in my post tomorrow also. See ya then Smile
