So I thought I would share some things about me instead of the dogs today.

2015 was challenging at best. But my faith in my Lord and Savior saw me through and continues to provide for me everyday.

The year started out pretty much like any other year; dog shows, I was able to take a vacation to Tennessee with Maia, Titan and very good friends, attending the Chesapeake Nationals, family reunion, hunt tests, fun days, but then on June 10th…

this happened…

Deer Hit 2015 (1)

The inside of the van was covered in glass including me.

Yep a big ol deer leapt in front of me going down the freeway at 70mph! Booommm!!! I saw it out of the corner of my eye with it’s head coming out of the tall grass in the median but it happened so fast there was nothing I could do. It hit and rolled right up over the top of my van. I had dogs in crates in the back but they never knew anything happened. But you see this could have been much worse, that deer could have come right through my windshield and crushed me, I could have lost control and hit the semi’s that were right next to me in the right lane. What a blessing that only the vehicle was damaged and not us.

The body shop that did the repairs, oh yes it was repairable at the tune of $8500, did a great job. My insurance covered it all minus my deductible. The shop gave me a loaner to use until mine was repaired. They had it done and returned to me in just over a week. She looks brand new! After Repairs (1)

For a long time after this I was a white knuckle driver with whiplash from looking back and forth so much watching for deer…lol  I was sure the deer had it out for me. Just days after the hit I was driving home from a friends house, it was dusk…scary, and standing right in my lane was a huge deer. I was driving pretty slow so I was able to stop, yes stop because that good ol boy took his sweet time moving off the road. I know he was taunting me! So I drove a bit farther and now it is dark and what runs across the road right in front of me, yep you guessed it another deer. I was so glad to finally get home! Then a couple of weeks later I was coming home from another friends house and passed eight, yes eight deer along the way. Where are the hunters, oh right it wasn’t hunting season!

So then life went back to normal until November 24 about 5pm. My brother and I had been out shopping for Thanksgiving dinner supplies and while we were unloading the groceries I stepped up on my bottom porch step and slipped off backwards…boom! Well I had to be rushed to emergency because just looking at my right wrist we could tell it was broken and I wasn’t sure about the left. I wish I had taken a picture of my right wrist but when you are writhing in agony on the ground you aren’t thinking “oh wait that would make a great shot for a blog post” lol.

Sure enough I severely damaged the right which required surgery with a plate and screws to repair it. The left was fractured also but it was clean and in place so my Orthopedic Surgeon left it to heal without a cast so I would at least have my left hand to use. I did have to wear a brace on it but oh how thankful I was to not have both arms in casts. It took over eight weeks for things to heal so I could return to work and start driving again. I still have some healing ahead of me as far as full use of my wrists but at least I am moving forward. But you see this could have been much worse, I could have broken a hip, had a closed head injury, broken ribs any number of things could have happened. I have many people in my life that were there for me and helped me until I healed.

I only have post surgery shots.Surgery (2)Surgery (3)

So my year was quite eventful! I have many favorite verses but these seemed to be the ones I thought of the most.

Psalm 46:10

Be still and know that I am God;

and

Matthew 6:25-34

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

So heading into 2016 I am so thankful and blessed for all the Lord provides for me. He has provided for all my needs and put so many wonderful people in my life. I have a great support system through my family, friends and Church family. I could ask for no more.

  1. I say thank you to all guardian angels who were there to protect you and the pups that day of the deer. I’m so sorry your 2015 was a haunted year, seems it was the year of the surgeons, I had to go through that 2 times too. All our fingers and paws are crossed that 2016 will be a good year for all of us…
