This ‘N That Thursday ~ Where Do I Begin…

Well I begin by giving Jodi a heart felt apology for not getting this particular post up much sooner. Jodi I want you to know how much I value your friendship! I look forward to the day that we may be able to meet in person but until then I know you are always in blogville.

You see back in November Jodi at Heart Like A Dog had a contest,Printcopia give away, to win an 8×10 canvas print. So I did the things required to enter and would you believe it…I won!! I was thrilled when Jodi contacted me to let me know and could not wait to order my print. I was immediately contacted by the representative from Printcopia with the directions on how to order my print. I have to tell you this site is awesome, not only do they do quality work but they are very quick, I had the print in less than a week after ordering. The hard part of the whole thing was deciding on what photo I would use so after hours and hours…not really…I decided on Cheyenne’s WD photo. I wanted something very special to remember this event and this print will be my special memento of not only her achieving her WD but that we won it from our very dear friend Jodi over at Heart Like A Dog. We here at Misty Shores thank you so much Jodi and here is the finished product.

 I had several choices for how I could have the side wrapped, so I decided to go with the mirrored wrap. I really like it, what do you think?

 

Now some of you may remember the Blogville calendar contest Jodi had back in November(yes that is how far behind I am in blogging) to raise money to help out some of our canine friends in need while offering a wonderful calendar to the rest of us to purchase. Anyway we entered and came in 4th place which just so happens to be the month we were placed which just so happens to be my birth month…how great is that!!

The calendar is beautifully done and I ended up buying two so I could give one to my very dearest friend for Christmas, and yes she loved it! Jodi did a follow up on the contest you can read here. I warn you it is very touching so you might want to have tissue handy. So again thank you so much Jodi for doing such a great job on both of your contests and we are glad to have been part of it!

Give Thanks

Today all across America people are celebrating Thanksgiving, in other parts of the world people may be celebrating under a different name but this is a day to be thankful for family and friends, two and four legged and all that we are blessed with.

I think everyday should be a day of thanksgiving but with the hustle and bustle of every day life I for one sometimes forget to stop and give thanks for all that I have. The list of all that I am blessed with is endless; my family, friends, my wonderful animals, all of you in blogville, a job, a home, food, and the list goes on! For this I am most thankful!!

I hope we all can remember to give thanks everyday for all that we are blessed with; which is I’m sure more than some and less than others but it is being grateful for what we have and not what we want that is important!

So from our house to yours have a very blessed Thanksgiving and may you enjoy your time with family and friends today and everyday!!

Chessie Weekend

What a wonderfully exhausting weekend

Saturday was our *B/OB, this is an event my dog club does to work towards becoming licensed by the AKC so we can hold our own shows. We had a wonderful turnout and everyone had a great time, I was not able to get very many pictures since I was so busy with dogs. I am so proud of Maia, she received first in her class and yes we had competition! She stood pretty good for exam and moved beautifully around the ring. It was a great opportunity to practice with her in a relaxed show setting.

The nice thing about pictures is you can see things that you otherwise would not know is going on; like in this picture I see I have let the collar slip down a bit.

 

Then Sunday was the day I have been waiting for with great apprehension and excitement…WD day! Cheyenne and I have been working for this for the last three years; she ran in a WD two years ago but we missed our title by one bird. This time we nailed it, she was awesome and she is now a WD titled dog

I am still flying high from the weekend and I could not be more proud of my girl’s. I will not pursue any more tests with Cheyenne but we will still go to training to have a good time until she tells me she is done! Maia and I will continue moving forward with her conformation training and entering a show here and there for the exposure and practice until I think she is more mature, then we start trying for her Championship (CH) title.

This was a great weekend of people coming together for the benefit of the dogs. We had a wonderful time working with our dogs, socializing and eating. I can’t wait for the next event!!

This ‘N That Thursday

You guessed it, this post is going to have a little bit of this ‘n that in it.

First I am so excited, WordPress informed me that we have had over 500 Likes on this blog. Second, so far we have had over 8500 hits and yesterday we had 122 views, our busiest day. Third we now have 45 followers, I can hardly believe it! When I started this blog I thought it would be cool if we had ten followers and now we have, yes I’m going to say it again…45 followers! Now I’m thinking won’t that be great if we reach 50, it’s within reason, we’re almost there, it’s just around the corner…okay I’ll stop       I just want everyone to know how much we appreciate you reading this blog and sharing your thoughts and comments with us. Although I have not met most of you in person I feel like I have through your wonderful stories and photos, so thank you for allowing us to share in your life.

Moving on, tomorrow I am going to see Titan and the girl’s will be going with me. The plan is to get some training in with Cheyenne so I can get her ready to run in the WD next month, for those new to my blog WD stands for Working Dog Stake, you can find information about it here. I haven’t worked her very much so far this year but when I did she was much better about getting the bird back to me so here’s hoping we can pass the test this year

And now your Awwwwwwww for today, my friends Dave and Michelle over at Dusty Rose Chessies just had a litter of puppies…I mean their dog Chemmy had puppies   They are so adorable and I can’t wait to smell that puppy breath, ahhhh! You can see a picture here

Yeah Another Award!

Our friends Chuck and the Collie’s have nominated this blog for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

Where Does The Time Go!

I have fallen so far behind on my blog and reading all of your great blogs. Classes started a couple of weeks ago and with work and the dogs there is just not enough time in the day to do all the things I want to get done; I hope to get caught up in the next week or so. I can’t wait to see what everyone has been up to and I have a few awards to share also.

1. I am a Chocoholic, specifically dark chocolate~yum!

New Friends

You may have noticed we have a new award on our side bar, The Collies Choice Award, we received this from our new friends at Collies Of The Meadow. This is a wonderful blog full of beautiful Collies! They have honored this blog with their award and we are very pleased to display it for everyone to see. I must tell you how we happened to find this gem of a blog, it was through Bassas Blog, another new friend with a wonderful blog and we found them through another gem of a blog jodistone who I found through a great blog, 2browndawgs. I guess what I am getting at is how the blogging community is such a great place to find new friends through each other. These awards are the perfect way of saying how much we appreciate each other. If you haven’t checked these blogs out yet you must, they are just wonderful and I enjoy visiting each one to see what they are up to.

First one goes to one of the very first blogs we started following, 2 Brown Dawgs, this blog is all about the adventures and training of two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Thunder and Storm, don’t you just love their names. Very soon they are adding a third little Peaker to their family.

Second award goes to jodistone-Life with Sampson and Delilah….The 411, Jodi writes about her two labs. Sampson is the more sensible one and very much the gentleman and Delilah is the outgoing one.
