Today we are joining Kol’s Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever for the Tasty Tuesday blog hop. This is the recipe I used for Maia and Titan’s birthday cake last week and it was a hit, everyone loved it, of course we are talking about Chesapeake’s who are part goat
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup corn oil
4 oz. jar baby food, meat, beef, chicken, lamb (I used chicken and rice)
4 eggs
2 Tablespoons real bacon bits
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour an 8x5x3 inch loaf pan. Mix first five ingredients together until smooth. Add bacon bits and mix.
Bake 35-40 minutes, until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool on wire rack 10 minutes, remove from pan and cool completely. ![]()
Ice with plain yogurt or cottage cheese.
Store uneaten cake in refrigerator.
I used yogurt to frost it and stored the leftovers in the frig and even after four days it still looked just like the picture. I thought it would get all gooey from the yogurt but it didn’t!
So hop on over to Kol’s Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever and join in the fun!!

Thank you, this post is just in time for me to get the stuff together and make Nellie a 8 yr bday cake for her home coming this Sunday, which is her bday!
Oh I’m so glad, I can’t wait to hear how Nellie likes it.
We have made something like this but without the bacon! Sounds like a great addition
urban hounds
Thanks for stopping by Kate!
Well the dogs sure liked it but again they would eat almost anything, lol
Sounds yummy! Sage would definitely like the bacon addition.
I have to admit it smelled really good when it was baking, I may have even drooled myself
This looks delicious! Yogurt is my favorite choice to use to ‘frost’ a dog cake with!!
My gang thought it was super yummy!! Yeah I thought the yogurt sounded better than the cottage cheese and looks nicer too
I wish I’d known about this when it was Henry’s birthday. May make it anyway!
I think Henry would really like that
THANK YOU – think my next BD is… NOW!
) I don’t think we have to storage it four days
))))
I do hope you enjoy it Easy
This looks and sounds amazing! I would’ve thought the “frosting” would make it mushy! Hmmm… Rudy’s birthday is next week… Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by Sue!
I thought it would too and I was so surprised when it didn’t. You will have to let me know how Rudy likes it
I can see why that was a hit. You are good to bake for your doggies. The ones that live here need never know…
LOL!! It’s super easy to make, just sayin
That is a gorgeous cake! You have some lucky dogs!
Why thank you very much, can you please tell them that, they don’t believe me
Thanks so much for sharing, I will make this for Delilah’s birthday in December! I know she will love it.
Oh why wait until December, give them a sample now
That sounds lovely, but I was puzzled by this part – “Store uneaten cake in refrigerator.” I don’t think there’ll be any left!
You are probably right on that one Clowie
nom, nom, nom…. looks great and now yo have done it the collies with Smoke and his Merrymen are plotting a break to go have cake with the Chessies!
Just let me know when you are on your way Smoke and your Merrymen and I will have the cake ready
It looks delicious and apparently the Birthday pups agree. Have to keep that there’s a while before a birthday:-)
They did like it a lot
The pups said to tell you why wait for the birthday, make one now
Wow, that looks great!
Why thank you Bassa!!
That is so cool. Maybe you could go into business making birthday cakes for dogs. You could even get your own TV show, like Cake Boss. Oh, yes, do that – then I can say I know someone famous.
LOL what a perfect job that would be, I could even have a little cafe where all the doggies could come to have cake with their people
I’d definitely visit!
